In this latest Resident Evil adaptation, the snow-capped roads of the Arklay Mountains aren't the only thing running cold. A simple organ delivery turns into a night of pure dread for a medical courier. Your Horror Host, Inkarnate gave the film a chance and I'm happy to report that I was rewarded for my optimism. From good acting to suspenseful moments, the new Resident Evil doesn't just finally give the franchise a proper film adaptation that it's been waiting 30 years for but may just set a new precedent for video game movies. We follow Bryan's journey as attacks from mundane walks of life both clue him into the abnormal affairs going on around him and unanswered questions as to what is going on. His fight for survival takes him from the coldest corners of the Arklay Mountains to the deepest depths of the Raccoon City streets. While certain aspects hold the movie back, they're not enough to hold it down. The creature designs and faithfulness to Horror tropes instead of Resident Evil lore, like so many content creators griped about, are to the film's benefit and should be praised as such.

What an utter waste. This is what I get for being optimistic. With the exception of the animation, Predator Killer of Killers botches its premise and potential literally from the jump. From its aggressively annoying girl boss Viking opener, to its episode conclusions, to the end fight, to that surprise (?) closing scene, the disappointments were aplenty. It's almost impressive how this movie squandered so much that it had going for it. All this animated feature do was further embarrass the Predator when it had the opportunity to re-establish how dangerous this species really is. The way this movie portrays what should be recognized as the lead character, you would think that the humans are the superior race. Considering what a fail this film was, as an entry in the Predator franchise, as animated feature with a gripping plot, especially as an anthology, this paints a pretty bad picture for what director Dan Trachtenberg has in store for us later in the year with Predator Badlands.
